Sarah Carter, Triathlete
Birth Year: 1999
First Triathlon:

My first triathlon was the Estrella Youth Triathlon in 2007. I was motivated by my friends Jazzlyn and Kiana Beam. It was one of the most fun triathlon experiences I've ever had. After that first triathlon I was hooked and since have competed in at least 16 triathlons. That experience led me to participate in USATF in the 800m, 1500m, 3000m, and Junior Olympic Cross Country. In 2008, I competed in the Junior Olympic Cross Country National Championships in Richmond, Virginia where I placed 88th in the nation. I especially love running and have competed in about 20 5K's, as well as numerous track meets with USATF and swim meets as a member of the Goodyear Sharks swim team. I recently competed in the Iron Kids triathlon in San Diego where I qualified for the Iron Kids National Championships to be held this October in Tucson.

Future Goals in Sports:

In the future my goals include the Boston Marathon, an Iron Man Triathlon and competing in the Olympics in Track or Triathlon.

Miscellaneous:

My favorite tri moment was my first open water swim in San Diego. My most embarrassing tri moment was on the swim at the Estrella Youth Triathlon when my swimsuit caught and ripped on the lane line (luckily there was another layer underneath). My best advice for a new Triathlete would be that as long as you're trying hard and most importantly having fun, you're doing great. Since doing the Estrella Youth Triathlon two years ago my family has had so much fun doing tri's and runs together that I would recommend anyone to give it a "tri" (try), you never know what doors it may open up to you and your family.
