Our goal is for every child to have a fun safe experience that will last a lifetime. For this reason it is very important that everyone follows our RACE RULES. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us at
Pre-ride course:
  • Ride or run around the bike course with your child at least once if you can.
  • Start in the transition area (in the furthest east parking lot).
  • Ride down the boat ramp and counter clockwise around the north lake.
  • View maps and course description/lengths for each age group.
  • PLEASE be cautious of cars in the parking lot! The lot will be closed on race day and not until then.
  • If your child can pre-ride a couple times that would be ideal, but once works.
  • If you have an opportunity to do both the run followed by the bike that's even better.

Another suggestion is have your child do "Transitions":
    Sample Transition Workout Video

Here's an example of a transition workout.

  • Find a nice safe area that will allow your child to do a short run (10-20 seconds for little ones and 2-3 minutes for older kids) and short ride (1-2 minutes for little ones and 3-5 for older kids). Any park or playground with open, clear, safe concrete area is perfect.
  • Set up their bike with all their gear next to it as they will on race day.
  • Map out your run & bike course and go over it with your child, maybe even pre-walk it.
  • Do the "Transitions" starting with run 1st then bike.
  • Repeat both as many times as your child can.
  • Ten times would be ideal, but at least 2-3 will really help. You would be surprised how tough it is to remember everything.
  • When they are ready to go do a 10 second count down then start your watch!
  • If you can, write down or click "lap" on your watch for each time they do the run & bike.
  • After they are done, you can compare times which is a lot of fun.
  • You can even mimic running to the pool too if you'd like. You would be surprised how many kids forget to take off their shoes! However, it might be too much work to have the put their shoes back on for each lap. Maybe just mimic swim on last transition.
  • The idea is practicing transitions from run, to bike, to swim ... putting on helmet, changing shoes, etc.
  • In this race they won't be changing shoes so bike and run is really all they need.
  • A fast transition can make the difference on their race time, but more importantly help them feel ready for race day.
